Duška Kunštek

Duška Kunštek, PhD, Director of the Inland Navigation Directorate at the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, was born on 24 January 1973 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
She graduated from the Faculty of Civil Engineering at the University of Zagreb, where she obtained the title of Graduate Civil Engineer. At the same Faculty, she earned her Master of Science degree in 2003 and PhD in 2010 in the field of hydraulic engineering.
She began her professional career in 1998 as a design engineer at "Hrvatske vode", working on the Danube–Sava multipurpose canal project. From 2000 to 2018, she was employed at the Faculty of Civil Engineering, University of Zagreb, where she worked as a design engineer, project manager, researcher, and lecturer. She participated in the preparation of numerous professional studies and projects in the fields of water management, hydrology, and ecohydrology and was responsible for several graduate-level courses.
Since 2018, she has been employed at the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure, where she serves as Assistant Minister and Director of the Inland Navigation Directorate. In her work, she proposes and implements river transport development policies, participates in drafting legislative and strategic documents, and coordinates transport infrastructure development projects and alignment with European Union regulations. She actively participates in the work of international bodies and organizations in the field of inland navigation and represents the Republic of Croatia in relevant international institutions. She is a permanent member representing the Republic of Croatia in the Danube Commission (an international organization of Danube countries for navigation and transport on the Danube) and a member representing the Republic of Croatia in the International Sava River Basin Commission.
