Graduated in 1999 at the Faculty of Maritime Studies Rijeka and became B.Sc. in Technology maritime traffic. At the Faculty of Economics in 2008 defended his doctoral degree and received his doctor's degree in social sciences, field of economy. He completed his professional master's Economics for Sustainable Transportation Development in the Virtual University of the Adriatic-Ionian Basin, Trieste-Italy.

He works at the Faculty of Maritime Studies, University of Rijeka as full professor. In two terms (2016-2022) he was a Dean of the Faculty and before that he was a vice dean for business affairs (2013-2016) and a Head of doctoral studies (2009-2013). It carries the following courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels: Economics of shipping, Port Economics and Economics and Organization of Maritime Passenger Transport and on doctoral study the subjects Port system and Economics of Infrastructure Projects in the Port System.

He has participated in over 120 professional and ten scientific projects related to the organization, logistics operations, economic exploitation and management of ports and maritime organizations. The most important professional projects that he was involved are: National Development Plan for ports of county and local importance in Croatia, Sustainable Development Strategy of Cruising Tourism in Croatia, Ten Year Development Plan Croatian port system. He was also engaged in 10 European projects, and in “Developing of Motorways of the Sea system and Adriatic region" IPA Adriatic cross-border cooperation he was the project leader. He has published more than 100 scientific papers in the field of economics, logistics, traffic and transport, ports and shipping, and participated in a number of national and international conferences and meetings.

Also in has a lot of professional experience as he is a President of Supervisory board of Port of Rijeka Ltd. which is the biggest maritime port in Croatia and a member of Supervisory board Adriatic gate Ltd. the biggest container terminal in Croatia.
